Oh the weather outside is frightful
So here we are. November something something and there is snow on the ground. Ok it's that pathetic snow that you get in November that hides in clumps in dark corners but it's snow.
I hate winter.
It's Monday and it's below zero. In a part of Canada where below zero is a phrase that is rarely spoken. I moved here (in part) to get away from snow and below zero.
I hate winter.
And I heard a weird 'international' version of Frosty the Snowman in the grocery store. Not that I'm all bah-humbug about Christmas. I like Christmas in principle. I'd just like it more if it came in July. Or I was in the Southern Hemisphere. Otherwise it's just another sign that the chilly, dreary, no day light time of year is on us again.
Did I mention I hate winter?
I have been getting out in it on the nicer days to ride in the woods. And I did race last weekend in the wet sogginess of Aldergrove. Where half the course made you extremely muddy and the other half cleaned you off by being a few inches under water. And the barriers were in a puddle. It was a really fun race through. I'm just sad I missed Jeremy showing off doing a wheelie only to end up on his back. In a puddle.
I am loving cyclocross.
Despite my abysmal performances. Which probably has something to do with not going outside to ride and instead spinning inside. Where there is no snow and it's about 20 degrees. But the good news is there are very few citizen women out there so I can usually say I finished in the top three. Nevermind that there were 3. And one of them is 13. And kicking my butt.
I am OK with being whomped by a thirteen year old slip of a girl.
I'm still not running. I tried out P90X's plyo workout the other day but 30 minutes in my ankle/foot said "I don't think so". So I'm taking that as a sign to not run. And am thankful because that means I don't have to go outside and I can happily spin away or ride in the woods. Any excuse is a good one to not have to go out in the cold and yuck and instead stay by the fireplace.
Have I mentioned I hate winter?
